Samantha and Josh Wedding | Rockland Community Church | Colorado Wedding Photographer

I just had the honor of 2nd shooting for Bound By Grace Photography this past weekend. Samantha and Joshua had their ceremony at the lovely Rockland Community Church in Golden, Colorado. Following their beautiful ceremony the reception was held at the beautiful Fossil Trace Golf Club.

Samantha had one of the most beautiful Maggie Sottero gowns that I’ve ever seen. It was a beautiful champagne color and the bead-work glistened in the light. Her and her bridesmaids were a joy to be around and photograph. The morning was spent with a radio blasting old Spice Girls and Britney Spears while the ladies reminisced about being in college together and where their lives are today.

The pastor came in to say a prayer with the bride and her bridesmaids right before the start of the ceremony.

After the prayer her Uncle came in to walk her down the aisle and had to pause at how beautiful she looked.

Kendra and Jake Engagement Session | Copper Kettle Brewery | Denver Wedding Photographer

Kendra and Jake are that extremely adorable couple that you just know they will be together forever. I feel so lucky to have had the most amazing brides and grooms I could ever imagine. These two have had the opportunity of watching eachother grow up and blossom into a sweet romance. On their free time they both enjoy going to different breweries and one of their favorites is Copper Kettle Brewery right in my backyard. It was only fitting to have some of their engagement session there as well. After warming up with conversation and good beer we moved onto our next location which was this really neat little park that you’d miss if you drove by. I’ve always wanted to do a shoot here and was very happy when they both agreed. There were a lot of favorites from this session but here’s a few of them for you!

Kendra and Jake, thank you so much for choosing me to be your wedding photographer! I can’t wait for you wedding this August at the Cathedral Pines Lodge:)

Nothing warms a mother’s heart more then seeing and knowing how happy their child is! Kendra is very photogenic but you captured the pure LOVE in her heart, in her face!!! I have always known Jake was the one, but seeing the way he lights up when he is with my daughter brings me pure joy. Jake is not fond of having his picture taken but you would never know it in your pictures! Can’t wait to see more and even more excited then ever for the wedding photo’s.

Thank you,

Julie Schultz Duff

Final Project: Digital 2

Artist’s Statement:

For this project I chose my body of work to be the little details that make up a wedding or engagement session. I have carefully chosen images from three different weddings and two engagement sessions in order to put together my central theme. Currently within my own business I have been submitting more for publication so I have been pushing myself to pay more attention to everything that’s going on around me without being the traditional portrait. My inspiration mainly comes from a lot of the techniques Elizabeth Messina uses in her work. In my images you can see a lot of bright and vibrant colors. I also tend to overexpose my images a tad to allow more of a “glowing” look to the images. I also use a lot of shallow depth of field to really draw in on my subject whether it be a ring shot or a small branch on a tree. I feel in doing all of these things I can create emotion through an inanimate object and tell a story about the couple’s wedding day using every single detail down to what the sky was like or how beautiful the beading on the bride’s dress truly looks.

Susi and Sam Wedding | Space Gallery | Denver Wedding Photographer

This past weekend (on April Fool’s Day) I had the amazing opportunity to 2nd shoot for Crystal Allen Photography. She’s an amazing fashion photographer in the Denver area and has been on numerous Denver magazine covers with her images. She has also been assisting me on a couple of weddings in the past, my brides absolutely love her!

As soon as I met Susi I knew I completely loved everything about her! Her and Sam were so grateful to everyone who was there to share in their day and the smiles just kept beaming everywhere. I have recently been shooting for Yelp’s events at the Space Gallery for the last few weeks so it was only a crazy coincidence that I would also be shooting a wedding there as well in the same month!

I even had the pleasure of running into Cielle Amundson (wedding planner and owner of Storytellers Events) after meeting her at a recent photographer’s meeting I attended. I can’t stress enough the importance of having a wedding planner on your day, it makes everything go so much smoother!

Here are some of my favorites captured of the day:

I also wanted to share a couple of images from the reception decor. The lighting in there was bathed in purple and was absolutely gorgeous! Each table had a different game theme including monopoly, yahtzee, and my personal favorite: candyland!

Crystal, thank you so much for letting me come along! I had an absolute blast shooting for you:)

Danielle and Mike Wedding | Calvary Apostolic Church | Colorado Wedding Photographer

I’m really excited to share Danielle and Mike’s wedding with the world. The day was filled with love and the gorgeous peacock details that Danielle came up with on her own. The bride even made her own bouquet and it’s beauty is that of a thriving floral business. Her dad commented saying she went to floral school and was top of her class. I would definitely love it if she started her own business!

Both of their families were extremely welcoming and I really wish I could take Danielle’s grandmother with me everywhere as long as she promised to sing the chorus to “Chapel of Love” everywhere we went. The entire sanctuary was full of love as their families have been apart of the church for many years and even Danielle’s own parents married there many years ago. Family from all over came to celebrate this special day including an uncle that Danielle hasn’t seen in a really long time. This wedding truly had it all from tears to laughter and I had a smile on my face all day long. (My cheeks still hurt from laughing so much!) So I’d love to share some of my favorites from the day with you all:

Danielle and Mike, thank you so much for choosing me as your wedding photographer and I wish you all the happiness in the world! I hope you’re having a blast in Las Vegas for your honeymoon!!

I’d also like to appreciate all these wonderful vendors that made this day possible:

Cake/Cupcake baker: Child’s Bakery, and Meagan Brownmiller
Florist: The Bride
